2006:    
  • Cabela's BBQ Challenge, Hamburg, PA, 6th place chicken.
  • Blues & Brews BBQ, Snowshoe, W. VA., 2nd place dessert creme brulee, 3rd place pork ribs, 5th place bbq pork, 5th place chicken, 5th place overall.
  • OINTOBERFEST, Clarence, N.Y. First place side dish with a perfect score of 180 Fran Fry's Frying Pan BBQ Baked Beans; First place dessert with a perfect 180 score Frying Pan Creme Burlee; this was a great accomplishment with two perfect scores of 180 in one day. Perfect 180 pins were presented to Fran and Wife Judy by Linda and Jerry Mulaine, reps from the Kansas City Barbeque Association. The team also finished 6th in the chicken class. The next day in the tailgating competition, their son Chris Fry of Erie won first place in the side dish division with squash souffle, topped with Pennsylvania Maple Syrup and marshmallows. He missed a perfect score by a fraction of a point.
2005: We won 25 awards in 2005
**The Frying Pan BBQ Team won the following awards so far this year, the 2005 barbecue season:
  • Pigs in the Park in Danville. Va. --Won Second place for their Chili
  • Barbeque On The River in Bristol, Pa. -- Fifth place pork and eighth place chicken.
  • Paris Expo 2005, Ontario, Canada -- First Place Championship bbq pork with a perfect 180 Score
  • Cabela's BBQ Challenge, Dundee, Mich. Second place for beef brisket, 6th place for pork ribs, 7th place for wild game (buffalo brisket) and finished seventh out of 30 teams.
  • 2nd Annual Canadian Open Barbecue Championships & Ribfest. Barrie, Ontario, Canada. 1st place in ribs: 2nd place in BBQ Sauce and 6th place in BBQ Pork.
  • Hudson Valley Rib Festival Championship Cookoff, New Paltz, NY, fourth place ribs; fourth place pork.
  • Cabela's BBQ Challenge, Wheeling, W. Va. second place for beef brisket, second place for bbq pork, seventh place for wild game (boar ribs), 9th place chicken.
  • Blues & Brews BBQ, Snowshoe, W. Va. 1st. place chicken, second place dessert (blackberry cobbler in a dutch oven), third place bbq pork, third place overall.
  • Ointoberfest BBQ Cookoff, Clarence, NY won second place for side dish (Frying Pan BBQ Baked Beans), 5th place for Cajun dish jambalaya, second place for best decorated booth (Halloween theme by son Chris) and Chris won second place for his ribs at tailgater competition.
  • Ohio Smoked Meat & BBQ Festival, Nelsonville, Ohio. Third place pork ribs and third place dessert.
2004:

**The Frying Pan BBQ Team won 18 awards in the 2004 barbecue season including:

  • 2nd Annual BBQ Battle At Niagara, Great Lakes BBQ Society, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada--Won second place bbq pork butt and second place pork ribs. Finished fourth overall.
  • 8th Annual Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS)--Ohio Smoked Meat Festival State Championship, Nelsonville,Ohio. Won second place for bbq pork butt.
  • "Smokin On the Chesapeake," Great American Barbecue Road Show, Annapolis, Md. Tied for second place for bbq sauce and sixth place pork ribs.
  • Canadian National Barbecue Association Championship, Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Won four moose trophies: Second place in dessert, fourth place beef, fourth place chicken, and sixth place bbq sauce. Tied for fourth place overall.
  • 2nd Annual James River BBQ Fest, Lynchburg, VA, third place bbq pork and fifth place dessert.
  • 2nd Annual Connecticut State BBQ Championship Podunk Bluegrass Festival, East Hartford, CN: fourth place beef brisket and fifth place pork ribs.
  • Oinktoberfest, Clarence, N.Y., third place seafood, and sixth place beef brisket.
  • Guitarbeque, Asbury Park, N.J., fifth place beef brisket.
  • Maryland BBQ Bash, Bel Air, MD, sixth place beef brisket.
  • 4th Annual Pigs In The Park BBQ Cookoff, Danville, VA, sixth place bbq chicken.
2003:

** October (Buffalo, NY)** We did it again!!!

1. First Place Trophy for Judy's "Ginger Bread Apple Cobbler"

2. First Place Trophy for Judy's "Pumpkin Cheesecake Topped with Caramel Sauce"

3. First Place Trophy for our Chicken

4. First Place Trophy for the "Best Decorated Booth" created by our son Chris.

 

**We won the best barbecue sauce in Tennessee
after a cookoff in April in Winchester, Tenn.
 
**We won First Place BBQ Pork in the East Hartford, Conn., Championship Cookoff. We also Placed third overall.
 
2002:
**We won Ohio championship for BBQ pork and chicken
**Judy won two first places for her dessert, creme brulee ala butterfinger, in Tenn.

**Judy won two first places for her dessert, creme brulee ala butterfinger, in PA.

2001:
**The team took a third place for chicken and two honorable mentions for other meats at Buffalo.
**Later in the summer, were awarded a first place trophy for pork butt at the Second Annual Summerfest in New Holland, PA. They also won honorable mentions in two other meat classes, chicken and beef brisket. The Frys tied for fifth place overall in a field of 30 experienced cooking teams from eight states.
**Judy Fry, the other member of the FRYING PAN BBQ TEAM, won first place honors last year for her "Butterfinger Creme Brulee" dessert at 5th Annual Wild Turkey Bourbon Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club Tennessee State Championship Cookoff
**At the 3rd Annual New Holland Summer Fest. In New Holland she was given a perfect 180 score in the Kansas City Barbecue Society's scoring method. The recipe and the Creme Brulee mix will soon be available on our website.
**We are PA State Barbecue Champions for 2001. The trophy was awarded 01/19/05.
 
 
2000:
**The Second Annual Buffalo Stampede BBQ Cookoff, Buffalo, NY. At that contest, their first, they were awarded a first place trophy for their smoked sausage.
**Later that year at the Barbeque By The Lake competition in Wilson, N. Y., they won second place for chicken and third place for pork
